did you go to art school or did you just teach yourself some drawing techniques?
I majored in 2D studio art in college and took after school art classes throughout elementary school. Though I would say, studying other artist I find online and just practicing as much as I can has taught me nearly as much as any class. Sooo…yes?
I have a bunch of questions to ask you. Okay maybe just two. 1: I can't seem to draw heads in profile view, are there any tricks to master them? 2: I usually make the head really huge and the body too big or too small. I can't get past the shoulders. Should I use guidelines? (I think that's what they're called) (: thank you for any advice. I love your work! (Sorry if this posted twice)
Hey thanks! :D
I am probably a terrible person to ask for drawing advice, because I mostly just try to wing it and draw what I think looks good rather than it how it should actually look :[ But I will say that guidelines are a great tool in figuring out proportions! I always struggle with the drawing HUGE heads and tiny bodies. I’m always having to consciously make an effort to draw smaller heads. I have found this tutorial to be pretty helpful. It covers all the basics much better than I could explain. This site also has some great tutorial books as well. Hope that helps :)
That hair tutorial helped me a lot. Thank you so much! (: I LOVE your work. Unfortunately, I stopped drawing for years. You have made me so passionate about creating my own stuff again. I now study your work, along with other artists' work. You are such an inspiration. Please don't stop drawing D: I need your beautiful words and work on my dash.
Oooh my goodness, this is like the sweetest note ever! I’m so glad the tutorial was helpful. Don’t worry, so long as I can help it, I don’t plan to ever stop drawing. I hope you don’t either! Let’s go on creating beautiful art together!
Guys, guys, guys! Remember when that fandom meme was going around? The one that said “Leave a fandom in my ask box and I’ll draw my favorite character?” Well that was pretty fun, right? So how bout we do that again, but this time with a twist. Leave a fandom and I’ll draw my favorite couple! Cause I could probably work on drawing more than just one person at a time…
...You just said work is slow right now, but. :B What sort of stuff have you been working on!
By work, I mean my day job is pretty slow. I do spot illustrations for various textbooks and I’m at the part where I’m just waiting to hear back from authors. So much waiting! But for fun, I’ve also been working on my submission for this: PixArt Saultes Pixar Heroines! Yay!
have any strange stories to share about drawing in public?
Hmm, thankfully my drawing in public experiences have been pretty uneventful. I mean, you get the random guy who thinks it’s the optimum time to hit on girl, but nothing really interesting to tell. I guess the strangest thing for me is how so many people think that because they watched you draw something the somehow have a claim to it. So many people would ask if they could have my drawing after I was done with it. My common answer was “Uuuummmm….OKAY?? ;_; “
