Do you have any tips for anyone who's trying to get used to using a tablet instead of pen and paper? :c I really like your art and I don't use my tablet to draw very often because it feels so awkwardly different :(
Aww, sorry you’re having such a hard time with it! I understand though, going from paper to tablet can be rough. I’ve actually been using a tablet for about 10 years, and it did take a few years even to get fully comfortable with it. When I first started using a tablet, I only used it for digitally coloring my pencil drawings, after quite a few years of using it I became more confident in drawing straight in Photoshop with the tablet. I think a tablet just takes a lot of practice, and consistent practice, at that. I’ve noticed that since I’ve started using a Cintiq for my digital art, I don’t really feel comfortable using my original tablet for art like I used to. But I have replaced my mouse with a tablet, so that at least helps me stay used to holding the pen and controlling it in some way on the screen. I wish I could give you more specific advice, but I really think it just comes down to making yourself use it and just keep trying. You’ve just got to take time to strengthen your drawing muscles and adjust to the hand-eye coordination needed. It’ll be frustrating and disappointing at times, but if you keep pushing through I’m sure you’ll be able to figure it out!
I’ve been drawing since I can remember, so like many people will say, it mostly just comes down to practice. Drawing almost everyday throughout the day is invaluable. But I do feel as though the last 5 or so years are when I’ve really learned and grown the most in my art. I haven’t taken any formal classes in the last 5 years, but I’ve spent a large amount of time on the internet studying and interacting with artists I admire. Find art you like, and figure out what it is you like about the piece and try to incorporate it into your own drawings. Maybe it’s the color choices or tone in a piece that inspires you, or perhaps the way they draw the nose or eyes that you’d like to try out with your own drawings. Keep looking, keep practicing, and don’t give up!
Would it be possible for you to do drawings on paper instead of the program you're currently using? If it's not possible, that's fine. :) BTW I loveeeeee you're art.
Thank you! :)
Most of the art you see on my blog is fully done in Photoshop because it’s quicker and easier for me. And also, I just really enjoy using the program. However, I do draw a lot with regular pencil and paper as well, I’m just usually too lazy to actually scan it in and all that. So yes, I use paper just as frequently as Photoshop, I just don’t always post it. But I can try and get into the habit of posting it more.

Ahh I love your art, I'm glad I found you on tumblr! That portrait you did of Kya is sooo cute! Are you planning to do the other Kataang kiddies? :3
Thank you so much! :)
Probably not in the near future, but possibly at some point. Katara and Korra are two of my favorite characters to draw for fun, so when I saw how adorable young Kya was, I knew I wouldn’t be able to handle it until I could get the sketch of her out of my system!
Do you have any advices on how to find a good pseudonym or "brand name" ? I do not want to use my real name for my artwork. I don't mind signing contracts or papers with it, but I don't want to expose it. Thank you :).
I’m probably not the best person to ask, since I market myself using my real name. I would say to try to get a very specific idea of what message you want to convey with your art, or what market you want to get in to, and see what phrases or thoughts are popular with that. Or maybe get ideas from similar patterns that show up in your art? Wish I could be more help :[ Maybe other people have advice they could add?
